Highlight Index

A common problem in form design is the failure to effectively highlight missing inputs, which can frustrate users when they submit a form and are redirected without clear indications of what needs correction.

We rely solely on an error state that triggers post-submission, which can feel punitive for users who are suddenly confronted with their mistakes. This approach fosters a negative experience, as it emphasizes what went wrong rather than offering proactive guidance, leaving users feeling like they've failed instead of supported in their journey.

While working on the Lighthouseproject, we asked ourselves:

Why not design a toggle that users can use as a sanity check before hitting the submit button?
